******Official Post

The words on the wind are MOOOOT!!!!!

From Elven culture comes the tradition of the Tavasta'combe' or Woodland Moot. This gathering of Rangers, Druids, and other Woodsfolk is a chance to not only celebrate the season, but also to give gifts, trade goods, host friendly competitions, and exchange knowledge. In practice, those participating generally come bearing small gifts, while others come ready to make a short presentation or demonstration on a subject of their choosing to educate the group and make the woodland community stronger for the coming season. Additionally, time is set aside to discuss current events and other topics of importance to the protection of the land, and of course anyone with the necessary skills could sell/barter their wares or simply trade any interesting items they've come across in recent days.

Once again Royal Scout High Captain "Wyndblade" will host the festivities and this time we will be returning to the traditional site at Longmire. As is the custom, an open invite has been made to all local Woodsfolk (Ancients and Younger races alike) to come and enjoy a celebration of the season. It is said that the main course will be provided for, but that each attendee is asked to bring an accompanying dish or refreshment to share. In that way, all will provide and be provided for.

The camp will be set on Saturday, November the 12th shortly after high sun and the festivities will begin in time for supper, continuing throughout the night and well into the following day.

Out of Play Notes: This is an overnight, one shot, role-play event targeted at those players with characters of a woodland bent. That means only those appropriate to the event would likely have heard of its happening and those without basic woodland skills like survival, tracking, cartography, etc. would be hard pressed to find it. This being a role play only event, no monsters will be present, but gate crashers will be fed to the squirrels.

The event will be held at Starkey Park in Pasco County (10500 Wilderness Park Blvd, New Port Richey, FL 34655 at the Primitive Group Camp Sites #9 - #11 <the old Ancients Camp>). Check in and camp set up will begin at noon on Saturday 11/12. We will run until about noon on the 13th to allow for tear down to be complete before dark. The area reserved for the event is a tent camp only event, so please plan accordingly.

This is going to be a pre-reg only event and you may register as of Tuesday, November 1st.

Contact mythicsignup@gmail.com and pay via PayPal as per the norm.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you add a note, so we know exactly what options you are paying for.

Cost will be $25 (includes admittance and camping the Moot), Meals described below.

As stated above, the main course of Saturday’s dinner will be provided, but the expectation is that the rest of that meal will come from the participants as a potluck. Think of this as your Mythic Thanksgiving!!

There will be both charcoal grills and fire pits to cook over as needed. Do not bring a gas grill as they are not allowed at this park. Be aware there is no electricity at these sites. This is camping...for woodsy people. So, expect to be...well...camping. There is a modern bathroom with showers nearby, so it’s not all bad.

Lastly, as instruction will be a big part of the Moot, you will have access to teaching cards if you possess the ability. If you have any interest in holding an in play skill class, please contact me to provide your name, character name, and subject. I will assemble a list to be posted closer to the event date.

Feel free to utilize the comments section to organize meals, tent space, etc., and to ask any questions you may have leading up to the event.

That's it!! Look forward to seeing you all out there!!
